Unity Connect used at the Polar Bear Capital of the World
"Unity Connect Saved the Day" that's what happened when the main vehicle used to transmit UHF audio from the frozen Arctic on the new series "Arctic Live" featured on BBC TWO moved too far into the Tundra that regular audio transition was no longer possible.
Unity Connect was then relied upon to transmit crucial audio over IP from the Tundra using a mobile wireless Internet link via antenna that reached over 30 miles to the little town of Churchill on the cold shores of the Hudson Bay in Northern Canada.
After that broadcast Unity Connect has continued to be a rock solid way to transmit 10 separate audio streams from the Arctic wild all the way back to town where it can be rebroadcasted.
As said by a main Sound Recordist on the show "Unity Connect just works."
About the show: Every autumn, polar bears gather on the shores of Hudson Bay in Canada to wait for the sea ice to form so they can begin their winter hunt. In one of BBC Two's most ambitious live broadcasts, Gordon Buchanan, Kate Humble and Simon Reeve head north to follow the remarkable story of not just these bears, but the entire Arctic.
